Additional Information:

The Economic Fundamentals Initiative works to promote economic literacy among the younger generations in Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia by fostering learning and discussion about economics in the native languages of these countries (see more at https://www.econfun.org) Our activities started in 2019 around the regionalization, translation and free distribution of the book "Common Sense Economics" by James Gwartney et al in our target regions, in both e-book and printed format. Through the last 3 years, the EFI activities have expanded in development of teaching materials, videos and educating different target groups to improve their economics literacy.

EFI is currently implementing an exciting capacity building project “Teacher Training Pilot” which will expand the teaching and learning of economics at schools in Georgia, Kosovo and Ukraine and serve as a pathfinder for other countries seeking to raise national standards of economic and financial literacy.

In order to improve the understanding of economics and expanding access to modern economic ways of thinking at secondary school level the “Teacher Training Pilot” project will empower, prepare and equip teachers across these three countries to teach economics with innovative teaching methodology. As the first step of capacity building of teachers, the project is seeking to hire experienced and highly motivated teachers who will participate in the training “Innovative Methods of Teaching Economics”.
The selected teachers (also known as trainer of trainers) of this call for expression of interest, will:

  • Initially attend a training course in Prague, Czech Republic in June 2024.
  • All training expenses (travel, accommodation, per-diems) will be covered by the project
  • Teachers will be certified from EFI and Stavros Centre
  • Upon the successful completion of the training in Prague, the teachers through the multiplier effect will transfer the knowledge and skills gained at the training- to their teacher colleagues at their home countries.
  • The assignment of teachers (trainer of trainers) who will deliver the trainings at their home countries , will be carried out after the completion of the pedagogical training in CZ with a special contract.

To train teachers, a trainer will run a five-day course. Those trainings will be held in Georgia. A later date will determine how many trainings each candidate will conduct overall (minimum one, maximum three).
