About the organization

Georgian Economic Literacy Initiative (GELi) promotes Economic and Personal Finance education among the population of Georgia.

Our Vision

Economic literacy of Georgians improves to a level, that is needed for any private citizen to ensure their financial well-being and make sensible economic decisions as members of Georgian society.

Our Mission

To lay the foundation of Georgia’s economic literacy breakthrough is through providing economic education to all groups of Georgian society from secondary education students to university students of any department with multiple forms of engagement, creation, and provision of fine-tuned learning materials.

Our team

Levan Pavlenishvili

Levan Pavlenishvili

Levan earned a MSc in Operational Research at the University of Edinburgh. He also received his Master’s degree in Economics from the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET) and holds a BA in Economics from Tbilisi State University. Levan was Deputy Head and Researcher at the Energy and Environment Research Center at the ISET Policy Institute (ISET - PI) for years. He has more than 5 years’ experience of teaching economics disciplines, including International Trade and Finance, Econometrics, Cost - Benefit Analysis, and Natural Resource Economics. 

Bakari Baratashvili

Bakari Baratashvili

Bakari received his Master’s degree in Economics from the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET) and a BA in International Economic Relations from Tbilisi State University (TSU). Before GELi, he was a deputy director of ISET (2019 - 2021 years). For the period of 2013 - 2019 Bakari was Assistant Professor at the American University of the Middle East in Kuwait (AUM), where in parallel he was leading the International Accreditation and University Curriculum Development Team. At the beginning of his career Bakari worked in the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and National Bank of Georgia. Bakari has 15 years’ experience in teaching economics, statistics, and finance at various universities.

Tamta Kakauridze

Tamta Kakauridze

Tamta holds a Master’s degree in International Economics from the Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) in Lithuania, and a BA in Business Administration from the Georgian Technical University (GTU). Tamta has experience working as Marketing Coordinator in international companies. He also worked as a Project Coordinator at the Association of Young Economists of Georgia (AYEG) for several years. Currently, Tamta conducts training courses in Entrepreneurship and Project Management Programmes.
